conditional !
in the future maybe
I can see that it DOESN'T work.
I am so happy if I see that people comment on threads and so disappointed if the comments are like yours. But maybe I had to be more clear. Mea Culpa

Sorry… I wasn't having a go at you / wasn't criticising you at all.
All I was saying was that if a CSI would work with that syntax… you'd see the included page and not the syntax itself. You phrased your post as a question saying "will this work?" (and then you tried it, to see if it would work), and it didn't occur to me that this was a feature request.

Why would you use an HTTP scheme in a wiki function? That is meaningless. This, however, does work:
[[include :projects.wikidot.com:thread:112]]
(Not in a comment, but in a page).
One thing we might do for consistency with URIs is to allow:
[[include :projects.wikidot.com/thread:112]]
but the 'http:' proposal is not sensible. A scheme (ftp:, http:, gopher:, etc.) tells a browser how to fetch a resource.
With respect to comments on comments, it is usually a bad idea to tell people when you don't like their comments, since we all come here from free will. Shane's remark was accurate, and your posting was so brief as to be almost free of content (not quite, but almost).
A generally good approach, when people do not "get" what you are saying, is to improve your text until it's clear, not to criticize them. Otherwise you will rapidly find that people stop responding to your posts… :-/
As a general rule, never assume people understand what you mean unless you say it explicitly.
Just friendly remarks, Steven, no criticism intended.

Imagen a ListPages module
that needs to render something like this
[[include :%%fullname%%]]
there is no way I can strip the %%fullname%% so that I can comply to the syntax of the CSI beeing [[include :sitename:(category:)page]]

This works:

I know CSI is intended to include blocks of code (centralized) on the CSI.wikidot.com site BUT…
As you pointed out CSI can also be used to copy a page from another site… So with :module: I am no step further
Do you realy want me to give away my idea before it is even born?
I think you can beleve me that an [[include :URL]] will have cool application in the future… for safety maybe the URL should be restricted to wikidot.com domein.

A need for this has occurred with me:
I need to do a CSI to include live content in a dummy site as part of a demonstration of some new CSS designs I've been asked to do for the site owner to consider. Unfortunately the site has a custom domain, http://www.westfreepress.com, but I can't seem to find what the wikidot site address is. It's not http://westfreepress.wikidot.com and the owners profile doesn't help. So I can't use [[include :westfreepress:start]] for example. I've asked the owner of the site for the name or for temporary membership and admin rights so I can clone the site but it hasn't been forthcoming. So my questions are:
1) how can I do a CSI when I only know the custom domain url?
2) if I can't do that, how can I find out what the underlying wikidot site address is so I can do a normal CSI?

I'll fix the doc. You can specify the full site name, so [[include :www.westfreepress.com:start]].

Oh, I hadn't tried that! That's really good. Thanks.
