The next time the Google Bot crawls across your website, it will instantly remove the website from the Google Search engine. Until the Google Bot does that, your website will remain in its search results.
Be patient, it can take up to a month to happen.
It doesn't work. I have tried this several times but it doesn't work. The last time Google Bot indexed my site was 14 minutes ago. (According to Google Webmaster Tools)

Unlike what James wrote, I don't think it instantly removes it. Google has a whole heap of servers — removing your website from all of them is no simple task and it will take time for the change to be made across all of their infrastructure.
Then, they will still keep an index of your site, but it will be in their archive and won't appear in a search.
Keep your meta tags as they are, but wait at least a week. If it's still appearing in a search, you might need to try something else.

I did this for over a month. No result.
